More fun with shapes

We played with lots of shapes this week. We built towers with square boxes, and had fun trying to match the right sized lid with the right sized box.

We played with shape puzzles

We learned how to make triangle pyramids. We had lots of team work as the children taught each other how to make their shapes.

We learned some stories with the number 3 - The 3 Little Pigs, and 3 Billy Goats Gruff.
And of course, as promised, we played with bubbles some more.

Circles Everywhere

We are going to have a lot of fun with shapes. We started with circles. We made "Cindy Circle" out of circle shapes and we made a circle picture stamping all different sizes of circle objects. Some kids really got involved and it was hard to drag them away from the table.

It didn't leave a lot of time for our GIANT bubbles! The kids were surprised that round bubbles always appeared no matter what shape we blew through. They each took a quick turn blowing a BIG bubble, and I promised them we would spend a little more bubble time next week.

Bubble Recipe
1/4 cup Dawn liquid dishwashing soap
2 1/2 cups water
Bubble Blower - Loop about 3 feet of string through two drinking straws (see how it should look in the pictures above.) Dip in soap solution. Carefully lift it up and open it to make a rectangle. Blow through the film, or lift it up slowly.

W is for Winter

The highlight of the week was playing with snow INSIDE.

We had Waffles for snack, and I heated them on a cookie sheet in the oven. When one of the children saw them on the pan, he exclaimed, "Look, it's a bear. See his belly button, and his ears?" I had to take a picture, and share. Aren't preschoolers amazing?
